Location: Southwestern U.S. and Mexico Danger: Venomous bite. While rarely fatal to healthy humans, it causes intense pain, swelling, and possible nausea.

●  Location: Mexico and Guatemala ●  Danger: Similar to the Gila Monster, with a venomous bite that can cause severe symptoms.

Komodo Dragon (Varanus komodoensis)

Location: Indonesia ●  Danger: Large, powerful lizard with a venomous bite. Its saliva contains bacteria that can cause deadly infections.

Alligator Snapping Turtle  (Macrochelys temminckii)

Location: Southeastern U.S.  Danger: Exceptionally powerful bite that can cause severe injury or even amputation.

Common Snapping Turtle  (Chelydra serpentina)

Location: New Guinea ●  Danger: Long, sharp teeth, powerful bite, and a strong tail used for whipping as a defense. ●  Their arboreal (tree-dwelling) lifestyle makes them a less common threat than ground-based lizards.
