What is solar eclipse?

Casting a shadow over the earth by the moon while situated between the Sun and the Earth

In syzygy, when the moon lies between the sun and the earth it casts a shadow over the earth.

During a complete eclipse the moon casts its shadow upon the earth surface. Only the Corona of the Sun is visible.

A partial eclipse occurs when a partial shadow is cast. A vicinity of the Sun always persists.

A rare type of Solar Eclipse, happens when the Moon is at some larger distant an the tip of the shadow doesn't reach the Earth.
